Drawn in 2005, pencil, "equalize" photoshop filter to give it an old look.
I like this picture though it has a few obvious problems, for instance, the odd position of the ear on the girl. Actually, that's mainly the problem that bugs me.
Faults set aside, the girl is supposed to mimic the mermaid prows of ships. Only the ship is growing out of her head, and the hair is like water. Oddly enough behind the girl is a calm sea, though the boat seems to be riding turbulent (hair) waves. XD It's not so much an illusion as a concept. We know boats go in water, and this one is near water but actually not in it...annnd...I probably shouldn't try to write a description at five a.m.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
this is a great portrait... although the rest of the negative space is nice it is mainly the size of the womans ear and the distance away from her face that is really distorting her. I suggest you look at a few works of degas to have a better sense of realistic human proportion.
Accepting all your words about it-but one thing you forgot to mention there-so Iīll do it Itīs a great idea, the water, the clouds and the ship sre perfect and the added colours are fantastic Donīt critisize yourself, thereīs lot of others who will do it And in this case, no need to critisize

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
